Will there be a MSI-package of PDFCreator 0.9.8 soon? We have a MSI of 0.9.3 that is working only with XP. Would be very nice :-)

Hello,

as soon as we have a proper MSI Packager, we will start working on the Installer. The old packager is not able to do actions depending on the OS, which is required to adapt the setup for Vista/7.

So it may still take a while until it is available, but it is on our wishlist as well.

kind regards,
Philip

Hi philip,

Can you tell us when you think that an msi package of PDF Creator will be available (newer that v0.9.1)?

Indeed, it makes a few moment that you get the $1200 requested... at the moment, you are at $1817,98 (617,98 more that requested...)

I can understand that you will publish a msi package with the future version (I HOPE) but can we know where you are in this version developping?

Also, can you (for waiting the future version) compile and publish a msi package of the v0.9.9?

I think that we are severals Network admins to wainting that for AD deploying exitings some complex scripts to deploy pdfCreator :)

Have a good time and think about us ^^

Cordially, Niju

Hello!

I also hope that there will be a MSI-version soon.

It would also be fine, if the msi-version upgrades automatically from any previous version. By now, old versions have to be uninstalled before installing the new one.

And the application-id should be the same {0001B4FD-9EA3-4D90-A79E-FD14BA3AB01D}.

Hi,

I'd really appreciate an MSI installer for PDFCreator as well! In order to deploy PDFCreator into my networks an MSI installer is big help.

Thank you

OSJF

Hello,

it is hard to give a schedule, but as the donations look very good, we now will buy the packager and will start to develop the setup.

kind regards,
Philip

Philip,

Can you give a statusupdate on the MSI installation?

I must say that though I appreciate this project tremendously, I am certainly glad I did not donate when it was originally claimed donations would go to MSI development... how many months ago was that now?  Very disappointing to see this, and I sympathize for anyone who donated under that pretense - never get in between a man and his money.

I must admit that I am disappointed too. I did donate a fair amount of money toward the msi-installer and for hosting, but after all this time, there isn't even a status update about it.

The new version is still not an msi and it looks like that the main effort is going toward a new editing tool

I know, you guys are doing this in your spare-time and a really appreciate your work. But wouldn't it be fair to all the donators, if you would try to finish one task before starting a new one? And wouldn't it be polite if you would keep them informed what you are doing with the money and what the problems are?

Greetings Konus

Hello,

yes, there will be an MSI installer, but there is no time schedule yet. The new tool is only a side project with low priority. At the moment, we are dealing with the performance problems of the server and migrate to a new one. As soon as we are done with that, we plan to start work on the MSI Installer.

We already starting working with the Tool to get the hang of it.

Many thanks for your patience - I know you hope for faster progress.

kind regards,
Philip

Are there any news about the msi-installer? Now it is almost a year ago, that I donated a small amount of money for this badly needed feature and I am really looking forward to hear some good news about it :-). Do you have a time schedule yet?

Hi,

I can help you guys with this task. I'm doing .msi for 8 years now as a consultant. I have great knowledge in this domain and doing operation depending of the os (XP, Vista, 7, 32/64bits and others) is not a big deal. Like many other, I also need an .msi for deploying the application.

Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks

Guys, we all need that MSI and kindly asking you to make it available (even if there will be separate msi's for WinXP and WinVista/Win7).

I could help you with creating Group Policy Templates to control PDFCreator all over the windows domain network (if it is wanted of course).

I'm also waiting for the MSI to do an company rollout. Please make it a #1 priority.

But a few other things should also be considered:
1. With the MSI package, an update (from every version) should be possible without uninstalling the old version.
2. If someone want to contribute an adm-file, PDFCreator first should query the policy-subkey and if this is set, the setting should be locked down. At example: First query HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\PDFCreator\Program\Language and then HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PDFCreator\Program\Language.

About your question #1, yeah, that easy to do .msp for update.

Like I said in my earlier post, I'm able to create the .msi/.msp for any OS...

Still waiting for an answer from the dev if they need me for this task.

Hope!! :P
